The Vampire

waits for a weakness, a fault line
you
wrapped in feather & quilt
& dream
leaves notes tangled in your hair
a fingerprint beside the pillow
whispers nicknames backwards
in the shower
sneaks up on you like a stroke
sips coffee among mockingbirds
licks his lips like a pack of coyotes
waits to see if you will remember
last night
wants to be the first
when you
look into the mirror
